Plant tops and flowers simmered together will yield a range of yellows, oranges and brown. The flowers alone, along with an alkaline modifier, will yield coral reds on wool (see keep flowers separate when harvesting if you wish to achieve that color!)

Dyer’s Coreopsis

Coreopsis tinctoria

There are many varieties of Coreopsis but only several are useful for dyeing. Native to Eastern North America, this annual wildflower is self-seeding and may pop-up year after year in your garden. Harvest often and as they fade through the summer, to encourage continuous blooming.
