Fiber Color Range
Simmering flowers for an hour or so will extract a coppery orange dye. For a golden yellow, add an alkaline modifier like washing soda. An iron modifier will shift color towards grey-greens.

Cosmos plants are easy to grow in light soil that is not too nutrient rich (or they’ll produce too much foliage and less flowering.) Pick the flower heads throughout the summer and fall as soon as they being to fade. They can be used in the dye pot fresh or dried. A great cut flower and foliage.
