Flowering Tobacco
’Purple Perfume’

Nicotiana sylvestris

Purple Perfume Nicotiana, or flowering tobacco, is NOT a dye plant! But we’re obsessed with its color anyway, and the heavenly scent it gives off at the end of the day. We have read that the tobacco plant was used as a colorant for Mayan textiles though, and are going to give the plant leaves, stems and flowers a whirl in the dye pot this summer, because why not?
